Antique Car Show Pays off!

We get this Really odd Car Show here twice a year.. November & February..
I've decided there Must have been some major Coup some years back that took place, That allows the Husband's to actually have their little Car Car show, if they allow a few Booths for old interesting Girl Stuffs too! Because over time it's transpired into loads & loads of old Antique & collectable Cars.. I think right about now I need to add that I am NOT appossed to these things. Just greatly appreciate some variety to Row after Row of old cars.. Really, how many Corvette's, Nova's, 57 Chevy's, & Model T's do i need to see.. THEN of course the really nauseating guys with the "No Touchy Please" signs on their lovely little cars.. that only they truly seem to appreciate.. obviously by the price tags that they've stuck on some of them.. I need a change of pace.. & i don't mean the next row.. devoted to booth after booth of dead car parts now lying around on greasy tarps waiting for a new home to hopefully bring them back to life again! Or better yet.. TIRES or HUB CAPS! Because Hell Yeah! Isn't THAT why I came here today?? sorry.. NO! I came in hopes of the scattered few relics that some brave Rrebel's have banned together to set up Booths of OTHER goodies!! Old Kitchen Stuff! Old Glass.. MY kinda Stuff! & I wasn't dissaponted! I was sorry to see that An old friend I'd made years ago had not made it this time round though.. She was actually the Girl that turned me on to the Kitchen Christmas Tree with all my cookie Cutters tied all over it.. & we'd been friends since.. year after year.. There were great Old Jars.. Fenton Glass.. Old Kids Riding Toys.. old pictures & Frames.. even my covetted Enamel Ware.. I was not completely sold on some of it though.. however brilliant some of the otems were.. some were just priced way to stupid for me.. This one guy had box upon box of Bottle Top.. i was ready to yell BINGO.. but the jerk would NOT come off his 50 cents a piece price.. EVEN with me offering to buy the entire box! When they don't play fair.. I definatly want to sock em Right in the nose! Stupid Guys..! So needless to say.. I didn't buy a single solitary bottle Top.. anyway.. he smelled like spam.. Hope he reads this too.. ok.. i'm alright now though.. moving forward...!

I DID get a few great Treasures! I was talking to nthe sweetest Man.. He had a simple looking quilt hanging up, he wanted $35.00 for it, said he'd take $ 25.00,I didn't buy it, am experiencing a bit of remorse over it,but that'll pass.He said You can have that one for $5.00,

Thought I was going to hurt my neck. It was on a Table underneath a bunch of glass things.. he was using to showcase all his other things. I said you sure, he said yep, I said cool, I said you just keep minding the store, I'll clear the table, But he helped me anyway.. WHAT an adorable Little Quilt! White & Orange Gingham squares! i gave it to the Jay Bird since Orange is her favore color, She was tickeled to death.. I also bought 3 Apron's for $3.00 each, & the neat thing with one of them is One of them has Cardinals Made from Bias Tape.. Like in Mary Jane's book!

I kept saying I wanted to try that one day, now i have a true example!
Found another tin Cookie Cutter, this one was $2.00, can'r ever have too many Christmas tree cookie Cutters.. if nothing else.. Great for gifts!

& one Hot pad, from the Sweetie with the Quilt for a Buck..

It was a nice morning, breezy, pretty day. Friends Marty & Daniella Met us out there. She's from Romania so she's always a trip to be with.. comes up with the cutest things to say..

Good day at The Car Show.. Can't wait for the next one!

Flea Market Finds!!!!

Well Finally Made it out to an Actual REAL live Flea Market !

Not just some pretend maybe make it to the end of a sale.. or run by .. stop & see whats still left over type thing! I actually was able to get over to one that was worth going to early in the morning!

& WHOO Hooo! Got some deals too!

A supr nice perfect condition old Jar With the lid still for $3.00.. One guy had a hand full of old wooden Spools/Bobbins.. 5 of them.. He said $10.00.. I said i'll give you $5.00.. he said they are really old.. i said i know.. yes.. they are.. but they are really common.. so they are good for $5.00.. i'll give you $5.00.. He wanted to argue about what great deal he was giving me.. i told him to have a great day.. & walked away.. they guy followed me to the next booth & handed them to me.. ok.. $5.00 he said.. yep.. thats what i said.... Funny.. because at the end of the day I ran across another man that had 3 really pretty red cone shaped ones.. he had them marked for $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00 But said I could have them for a buck each.. see.. Yeah.. Thats what they are.. one dollar.. Just like i told the first guy.. right?

Anyway.. Some different Copper Molds that IF you can believe it.. I DON'T already have! A corn image.. a heart shape with geese on it i think.. & one with a Chicken image in the center of a round one.. Lets see..what else.. Oh.. An Enamleware Stock pot for $2.00..Big deal! Though that was a great big deal! I'd have paid more for sure!

Oh.. a plaid wool throw for a dollar.. I'm telling ya.. they were nearly paying me to take this stuff!! A really cool HUGE whisk.. i'm thrilled with.. that was $2.00 & same guy had a wooden green handled something.. see it in the picture? not quite a whisk.. maybe sort of a strainer.. Anyway.. I already know who's hose THAT'S going to live in.. Certain someone I know just LOVES GREEN stuff.. even a little more then i do.. So.. it's hers! OOoohh A copper Christmas tree cookie cutter & a Scottie Dog Cookie cutter.. Each for 50 cents..hand full of lace stuff..All for $6.00!!! A small cream colored runner type things very pretty.. you can see it under the whisk.. a round one trimmed in red & another larger one.. the people at that booth were a hoot.. we were probably having a bit too much fun with the lace.. I think they may have decided to stick a couple things back in a bag & take them back home.. I may have re-awakened some ideas for alternate uses for a few things! I found a Big box full of these smaller boxes made from old Cheese boxes! they were all priced at one or two dollars.. depending on the size.. i grabbed a few of these.. great for pens or pencils or paint brushes I thought! Can't seem to remember anything else.. oh.. OHHH!! I got one of those Green 'leather' jewelry boxes.. the hinge that holds it open is broken.. So i got it for $2.00.. it's lined with gold velvet.. really pretty.. of course for me.. these things are all for craft stoarage.. so i think.. what can I stick in this!

But the very best thing I got from this old guy.. was this really cool box FULL of MY FAVORITE STUFF!! Rick Rack & Bias Tape... Some of it is so dang old.. But HOW AWESOME!! You wouldn't believe it! Most of it is all still in packages too..

GOBS of it! & a little baggie of snaps & buttons too All for $2.00..

I Really made a Great Haul this time.. & didn't spend all that much either!

Treasures!!!!

Yard Saling With My Mother In Law.. Really!! We BOTH Survived!

Wow!!
It Has been SO long since I last went to a Yard sale With my Mother in Law!!!
I gotta tell ya When She called & to tell me she wanted us to hit the road together this Saturday Morning.. I was hoping to wake up with a Migraine or something!.. But I woke up & the birds Were Singing.. the Sun was Shining.. & the weather was beautiful.. & I said.. ok.. here We Go!
Drove over to pick up the Girl & off we went.. She of course had our plan of attack all laid out ahead of us..
Where I prefer the Older neighborhoods.. old people,, with their old stuff..
She for some reason seems to think we're going to have better luck in a new neighborhood.. Which almost always never pans out.. But. thi9s was her day..
i said we'll go with her hunch today.. on to the Community yard sale She'd heard about..
But about after the 1st 3 or 4 house we were ready to ditch the new digs & go find some old naighborhood where the people weren't all young with young families.. New wood coffee table with smoked glass tops.. & Gobs of baby cloths.. all of which neither one of us have ANY use for!
When we found ourselves about half way into the neighborhood..
We Found Nelda! Whoo Hoo! She was Just My Cup Of Tea! Yes.. of course I spent the majority of my budget at her Sale.. ! But , She had All the kindsa Things I wanted!! I bought the most lovely plates from her.. All pretty china with sweet old Roses on them.. The BEST wooden Nesting boxes.. large enough to say they could even be used for canisters! An old Roller Skate Case..
(you know how I just Love these.. great for Storing things in my sweing room!)
More Wooden box Thingies.. .. A Pink Baby Doll Cradle.. An AMAZING Pink Satin Dust Ruffle,, i think it's for a full size bed..
Gosh.. what else..? OH! these awesome wooden crate things..!
& a Pair of beautiful Old Cabinet Doors that have been removed & are now used as a wall hanging with a pretty little Rose Stencil! Really Sweet looking!
Jeez! I can't even remember what else..
But we had THE best time today!
& laughed so much i though My ribs were breaking!

Yard Sales Are Stalking Me!!!

Doesn't Seem to matter how busy i tell myself I am..
These Yard sales Still manage to find me!!!
Try as I May to avoid them!
I run errands to points & places in town where i KNOW they should not be..& yet there they are! These people are having then now right out in open fields to trap me with their wares!
I have to stop of course! It would be rude of me not to!
After all.. We're in the South.. It's just impolite to not stop & say "Hello.. how's your Mama?"
& of course there it is! This LOVELY Coffee table that I needed.. with FOUR Drawer's.. a Recessed top.. & a fitted glass.. perfect to showcase all sorts of old bits & peices that I've collected over time! So.. I knew right off What I was going to stick in it! An old Tea set I'd made the Jay Bird at a Ceramics Class when she was about 8 years old.. Such a sweet little set too! Took me countless firings to get it right! I kept it a bisque color..But a Mother of Pearl Overlay!
She's only managed to loose one Little Saucer.. & the lid to the Tea Pot! Not too bad for nearly 20 years time I thought! I also tossed in several old Skeleton keys & a bunch of old Wooden Spinning Spools.. Perfect combination!

Next Stop I Just had a fit!
These Folks must have known I was on my way!
ENAMEL WARE!!! Yes! & OLD Chamber pots To Boot! Yet Another Weakness..
(Yes.. Know.. too many to count..) But you don't ubderstand.. I have a very Bizarre collection of old Enamel Ware Bed Pans & Such decorating My Hall Bath! A Light Blue Childs Chamber Pot!
A CHILD Size Bed Pan! & TODAY!!! I found another Chamber Pot.. As well as a MAN'S Hospital Pot?? Not sure what this one is called.. yes.. I've NEVER claimed Sanity here.. But has to be a complete collection I'm thinking.. aside from the fact that the colors are not the same!
I DO believe I have just about every type of Enamel Ware Bed Pan, Slop Jar,or Chamber Pot
That has been Made.. So Let it be Known.. I DO indeed Have a Pot To Piss In..!
Several Actually! Now I just need to figure out a way to 'Tastefully' Display them!

Flea Marketing And Yard Saling! My All Time Favorite Thing to do!

There is just something so Intoxicating for me to go through another Person's discarded Junk.. Anything they have now Deemed Fit to be rid of just tickles me to NO end!! I can hardly contain myself!
The Car won't even have come to a complete Stop yet.. & I'm already Bailing out running for the tables! Which is REALLY a bad thing if I'm the one doing the driving!!
A few weeks ago There was a community Yard sale near My Husbands Shop.. I stopped over for a bit in the morning.. But they seemed to be just getting started.. So I decided to hit the road for awhile.. & head out towards one of my favorite old areas!
(Giving this bunch a chance to get out of bed!!)
I ran into an old couple that had a couple interesting things.. I got a Cobalt Blue bottle for a Qauerter..

Mister had a frame of a Wheel Barrow that was a bit interesting.. No bucket on it.. but I was thinking.. Cute maybe in the Garden with a bunch of Flowers thrown in that direction maybe...? Anway I asked about it.. yes.. of course.. nothing was priced.. so I had to ask.. Well NOW The old guy wanted to talk about EVERYTHING..
He proceeded to tell me that he had Another Wheelbarrow out back.. that DID have the bucket.. I took a look at that one too..
But quikly lost Interest.. When I spied a set of chairs chairs all tangled up & overgrown with vines & weeds even further back on his property..
Yes.. Now is about the time I'm starting to wonder who I may have thought to tell that I was heading off in this direction..
As My Sweet Sister Karin says..

'You Just don't Do things like this up in Steven King Country.."
ANYWAY.. I asked my new friend if he was going to sell the chairs..
He looked.. Then Looked again.. as if he had never seen those chairs before in his entire life.. then he came to life..

'YEAH!! I AM selling those Chairs!!" I asked how much..
Now I wish I could remember.. but I must be ailing myself.. because I'm forgetting if he said $12.00 or $15.00 for all four?? Something like that.. anyway.. I said "Sold Buddy!"
Instantly I could tell he'd wished he'd asked for more!
but he graciously pulled out his Pocket knife & started cutting away at all the ancient Vines on my NEW METAL GARDEN CHAIRS!!
I pulled up my Truck & we loaded them bad boys up after we'd gotten most of their greenery removed!

So THAT was My fantastic haul for THAT venture..
I did head back over to the Sleepy Head Community.. found a couple things.. some teeny Mirrors.. some small things mostly.. I think I've forgotten all that I got from My Glorious Drunken Haze of my Most Awesome Chairs!!! See How Lovely!!!
And Then THIS Little Beautie.. I Call The Chairs from Your Great Grannies Lawn! I got just a Couple Weeks ago at a Flea Market! The Guy wasn't even selling it.. He had his Lunch sitting next to it at his booth.. & was over showing someone a Lawn mower.. I asked how much.. he said.. .."Well It wasn't for sale, but I'll let ya have it for $15.00" I said $10.00.. he said $15.00 i said $10.00 he said ok.. $12.00..
I said ok.. well, You have a great day.. & walked away.. He said.. "Ok.. You can have it for $10.00!"
My Lucky Day For Sure!!!
I LOVE These Chairs! My ALLL Time FAVORITES! And the Gilders too!!!
UGH!!!!!!! Can't ever have too many lawn Furniture I say!
